Walk through the world's first nature reserve.

headphones - Walk through the world's first nature reserve. [A FREE Thing To Do Today] Price: Free Time: 3-5 hours
Pioneering naturalist Charles Waterton established the first modern nature reserve at his home, Walton Hall, near Wakefield, in the 1820s. Walk around the site today in a 4-mile trail and - with the help of an audio guide from Wakefield Council - you can see the wildlife that's thrived in the centuries since. The trail begins at Waterton Countryside Discovery Centre, in Anglers Country Park, on Haw Park Lane in Wintersett.
